Great Gifts is a new venture for two already
well established internet entrepreneurs, with our combined expertise we aim
to provide one of the best gift sites available on the internet
Karyn Orchant
I studied for a diploma in Fashion Retailing at
the College for the Distributive Trades in Leicester Square, London.
After leaving there, I joined the graduate
training scheme at Liberty's, the famous Regent Street, London store. I
worked my way up and became assistant buyer of Childress Wear and Toys. I
left there after 3 years to go and live abroad for 2 years.
Once back in England, I started working in the
family import and export business which supplied crafts, fashion accessories
and haberdashery to the wholesale and retail industry.
After taking time out to raise a family, I
started up my own mail order craft business which I ran successfully for
many years.
I have been involved with our family mail order
and retail business for the last 3 years and am now very excited to be
setting up our latest venture, Great Gifts Etc with my friend Laura. I am
very excited and looking forward to sourcing many new and imaginative gifts
and giving our customers a personal and high level of service in the same
way as I want and expect to be treated as a customer.
In my spare time, when not scouring the world
for amazing gifts for Great Gifts Etc (!), I enjoy relaxing and cooking for
friends.
Laura Graham
Having left school at 16 without a GCSE to my
name, my first job was as a postroom assistant working for a recruitment
agency. Within a year I'd left and started up my own business, Keyword
Secretarial Services at the age of just 17.
A few years on and I took on secretarial work for the 'Orchant' family and
soon became their PA working for their chain of petrol stations. In 1997
C.GARS Ltd http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk was born and I have been the Website
Manager for this company (Director: Mr Orchant) since then, building my
first website using a 'Website for Dummies' book! I'm self taught and now
have extensive knowledge of google, SEO development and general website
techniques.
Alongside C.GARS Ltd, I set up my own business Snuggleshoes back in 2006
which sells a range of ladies wedding and evening shoes at affordable
prices. Our entire range is now available on Great Gifts Etc as well
as a full range of wedding extras including favours, bridesmaid/page boy
gifts, confetti, stag/hen accessories, guestbooks, photo frames etc.
In my early 30's I decided to go back to college and achieved an A level in
Business Studies (Grade A).
I'm now studying (in my spare time!) for a psychology degree with the Open
University.
My ethos has always remained the same.... 'first class customer service is
the key to any business'. I like my customers to be treated in the way that
I would wish to be treated. It is indeed true, the customer is always right
:) Of course this makes me a nightmare shopper!
Great Gifts is my latest challenge and with the help of my good friend Karyn,
I'm sure we will make it another great success :) We aim to get orders
shipped the same day, supply great quality products at affordable prices and
above all ensure the customer is always happy . How can we go wrong :)
